By the time he was 12, Adomoi (aka Junior), was orphaned—losing both parents to AIDS. Not long after his mother’s death in 2003, he learned he also had HIV disease. Fortunately, funding from GlaxoSmithKline and the US government’s PEPFAR program through the Children’s AIDS Fund provided free life-saving anti-retroviral treatment (ART) for Junior at a clinic not far from his Kampala, Uganda home. Over the past 9 years because of ART he has become physically strong, completed secondary school and enrolled as a social work major in a Uganda university.
But now, Junior was forced to drop out of school because he developed acute kidney failure from HIV disease. At age 21, he is on dialysis and desperately needs a kidney transplant.
Junior’s life and story of hope and resilience in the face of tragedy has impacted everyone he has met. You will see from the perspective shared in his writings below that he has matured into a sensitive, insightful young man.
You can give Junior hope for tomorrow and a second gift of life by making a contribution today to the fund through PayPal for his dialysis and transplant. Click the Donate button on the How You Can Help page, then please designate your gift for Junior in the notes section.
If you wish to send Junior a message, please do that through the Contact Us page or info@childrensaidsfund.org.
